Two Atlantic Basin disturbances; One in the Gulf of Mexico

Tracking the Tropics

On Friday morning, the National Hurricane Center increased the chance for development in the western Gulf of Mexico. Invest 91L may briefly become a tropical depression or storm before it moves inland over Texas sometime on Friday.

Regardless of if this develops or not, it will likely dump rain across portions of southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana.

The second disturbance is Invest 90L in the open Atlantic. It could become the first named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. This is no threat to the United States.

Experts are calling for another above average season. Make sure to have a game plan ready.
