NOAA predicts above-average hurricane season

Tracking the Tropics

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released an update to its 2021 Atlantic hurricane season forecast. The new outlook calls for 15-21 named storms, 7-10 hurricanes and 3-5 major hurricanes. The outlook includes the five named storms that formed earlier in the season, and the numbers are slightly higher from numbers in the May outlook.

The climatological peak of hurricane season is September 10, but storms can strike at any time. Have a game plan ready, and be sure to follow along for tropical updates.
