The National Hurricane Center issued its first advisory on Potential Tropical Cyclone 4 in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday. The Hurricane Hunters did not find a closed center of circulation. Without a defined center, it is not officially a tropical depression; however, it is forecast to become a tropical depression or storm before making landfall near the Mexico/Texas border this weekend. This will not impact Louisiana, but some of the tropical moisture associated with it may get pulled to the northern Gulf Coast next week and enhanced our rain chances.

Even though this system will not impact our area, we still have plenty of time left in hurricane season. This season is still expected to be above-normal. All it takes is one to make it a bad season for us. Please stay vigilant and be ready, should any storm impact our area.
