Tropical Storm Fiona developed in the central tropical Atlantic Wednesday evening. Fiona is the sixth named storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. There were 14 named storms by September 14, 2021 and 20 named storms by September 14, 2020.

The current forecast brings the storm toward eastern Hispaniola this weekend and early next week before tracking toward the Bahamas as a hurricane.

Current model guidance has Fiona curving to the north-northwest toward the Bahamas and then potentially riding parallel up the East Coast or out to sea. Plenty of time to watch this storm.
