Nicholas made landfall near Matagorda Bay as a minimal hurricane early Tuesday morning. It is forecast to eventually crawl across Louisiana, weaken, and then dissipate.
Even though Nicholas made landfall in Texas, heavy rain was seen across Louisiana Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Much of the rain has now passed.
A Flash Flood Watch is still in place through Friday evening.
Also, there is a Marginal Risk (threat level 1 of 5) for tornadoes on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there are a couple of other areas to watch in the Atlantic Basin. One strong wave is expected to emerge off the coast of Africa soon and that one will certainly be one to watch down the road, but there is plenty of time to watch.
