Tropics are quiet for now; Activity likely to pick up in August

Tracking the Tropics

A few tropical waves have emerged off the coast of Africa, but they have not developed. Thankfully, Saharan Dust has prevented development in the Main Development Region in the tropical Atlantic. Looking ahead, tropical activity may be slim to none for the remainder of July. There may be more activity in the tropics going into August. Although we have been quiet for most of July, August and September are peak months for hurricane season. We will continue to keep you updated throughout the next few weeks.
