Tropical Tracker: Disturbance approaching the Gulf

Weather

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The National Hurricane Center has highlighted an area of disturbance located slightly north of Cuba.

This system is not likely to form over the next 48 hours, but it does have a 20%, or low, chance of formation over the next five days.

The system will likely move into the Gulf, and regardless of development, there is a chance of heavy rain in the Gulf states.

The peak of hurricane season is in August and September.

That is when we will likely see more tropical activity, but now is the time to have a plan in place!
