Tropics Watch: The Atlantic returns to it’s slumber; Quiet for next five days

Researchers continue to forecast a near-normal 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Invest 96L fell apart over the weekend leaving a quiet scene in the Atlantic. Wind shear along with other factors are keeping much of the tropics peaceful at this point. No new activity is anticipated over the next five days.

The experts at Colorado State University updated their 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Forecast on August 5th. Forecasters are still calling for 12 additional named storms – 14 named storms in total. The only adjustment to the preseason forecast was one more hurricane this year. The original forecast called for six hurricanes.
