Today: The ridge of high pressure that has been keeping us hot and dry is beginning to move away from our region. The influence of it will still be felt today, bringing another day of heat but rain chances will slowly increase through the week. This afternoon and evening, spotty showers and storms will be possible. A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued again this afternoon for most of our parishes and counties today from 9AM to 7PM with heat indices expected to reach up to 110 degrees, maybe even 112 degrees in a few spots. Heat illnesses will be possible with this kind of heat and high humidity. The actual temperature today could reach 95 today in Baton Rouge. Tonight will be mostly cloudy to partly cloudy with a lingering shower or storm possible. Overnight lows near 76 degrees.
Wednesday-Friday: Highs will return to the low-90s and upper-80s with scattered showers and storms each afternoon and evening thanks to an increase in tropical moisture and the loss of the influence from high-pressure.
Weekend: Wet weather with average temperatures look to continue into the weekend. We’ll need to keep an eye on the tropics during this period
Tracking the Tropics: Eyes are on the Western Caribbean where there is a moderate chance of development of a system in the next 5 days. This disturbance is then expected to move into the Gulf where development looks favorable. We’ll have to monitor this one closely.
Two other disturbances in the Atlantic have a moderate chance of development but are not a threat to Louisiana.
