Tuesday Night: Multiple rounds of heavy rain; Flash Flood Watch until Thursday

Weather

FLASH FLOOD WATCH [now – Thursday 12:00 pm]: An additional 3-5″ of rain is possible. Saturated soils will help to accelerate potential flooding. Do not drive through high water or go around barricades.

Tonight – Periods of heavy rain are possible. Overcast and mild. Lows near 65.

Tomorrow – Another band of heavy rain and thunderstorms arrives midday. A few individual storms could be strong to severe. We sit under a Marginal Risk [1 of 5] for severe weather. Heavy rain and localized flash flooding will still be the greatest concern. Highs near 73.

Extended – Multiple rounds of heavy rain and storms will continue to pummel the Capital Area in the coming days. The pattern remains wet and unsettled until late Saturday. Over the next five days, we may see an additional 3-5″ of rain. Heavier amounts are possible in pockets. Flash flooding will be risk until the weekend. River levels will likely swell to minor flooding for the Amite and Comite. A

Temperatures will continue to sit a few degrees below average. Look for highs in the 60s and 70s.

A drier pattern finally arrives by Sunday. The weather should be very pleasant for the first half of next week. Expect a seasonable forecast with some sunshine.
