Tonight – Winter Weather Advisory [northern parishes and southern Mississippi] and Severe weather threat [SE parishes and New Orleans]. Expect pockets of cold heavy rain until 10:00 pm. Temperatures will hover around freezing. Lows near 31.
Tomorrow – Clouds will hang around for most of the day. Temperatures remain below normal. Highs near 42.
Extended – Another winter storm is driving through the Capital Area. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for our northern parishes and southern Mississippi. Light accumulations [<0.10″] of freezing rain are possible. However, any glaze can be very slick and dangerous.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible through early evening. Thunderstorms will likely gain intensity as they shuffle past I-55. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible. Localized heavy rain could be an issue. Stay weather aware.
The cold doesn’t go away. Anticipate another batch of frigid temperatures to wrap up the work week. A Hard Freeze is possible for both Thursday and Friday nights. Overnight lows will sink into the mid 20s.
Eventually, we fall into a quieter weather pattern over the weekend. Temperatures will gradually return to normal. Saturday’s high will sit in the 50s. Sunday’s high will sit in the 60s.
