StormTracker Morning Forecast…
TODAY: A weak cool front will try to push to the south of the Baton Rouge metro. This will bring us some slightly drier air, mainly for areas north of I-10/I-12. If you live near the coast and toward I-49 in Acadiana, you will have a better shot for rain today. Rain chance for the Baton Rouge metro is 20%. Sun and a few passing clouds with highs in the low and mid 90s. Feels like temperatures in the mid and upper 90s.
TONIGHT: Mainly clear and quiet with temperatures in the lower 70s for most. Some spots may wake up to the 60s.
THURSDAY: The front will likely stall out and hang over South Louisiana and we could see a shower or two, but most stay dry. High near 93°F. The slight dip in humidity will make it feel more manageable outside. Overnight temperature near 73°F.
FRIDAY: The front will lift back to the north on Thursday or Friday and high pressure builds in the Gulf of Mexico, which means moisture will gradually return to the area. Rain chance is near 20%. Feels like temperatures will be in the upper 90s to around 100°F. High near 94°F.
WEEKEND: Rain chances begin to increase to 20% on Saturday and then 30-40% on Sunday. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy otherwise. Highs in the low and mid 90s. Feels like temperatures will be in the 100s.
Next Week: Typical August weather pattern – sun, clouds, hot, humid, with daily pop up storms.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: Post-tropical cyclone Isaias is now in Canada. There is an area of disturbed weather south of Bermuda that has a low chance for formation. No tropical activity in the Gulf for now.
